Portugal Addresses UN Security Council Debate on Working Methods
On 14 November 2025, Portugal took part in the UN Security Council Open Debate on Working Methods, held at UN Headquarters in New York.
In its statement, Portugal reaffirmed its commitment to more transparent and effective working methods in the Security Council, and stressed:
- The need to improve modalities for the next selection of the UN Secretary-General.
- The importance of closer cooperation between the Security Council, the General Assembly, and the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC).
That stronger working methods mean stronger multilateralism.
