Briefing on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Right to Development

On 28 January, the Permanent Mission of Portugal in Geneva hosted a dialogue on Human Rights, with a focus on the economic, social, and cultural rights, as well as on the right to development, reflecting on the conditions required to ensure their universal protection.

The event brought together Virgínia Brás Gomes, former Chair of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; Surya Deva, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development; Pradeep Wagle, Head of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Section at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR); and Sandra Ratjen, representing the International Commission of Jurists.

We would like to thank all those who joined us for this timely and meaningful exchange, where we reaffirmed our commitment to the promotion and protection of Human Rights.
