Portugal Participates in UN Events on Youth Empowerment and Inclusive Decision-Making
Between 14 and 16 April 2025, Portugal actively engaged in United Nations discussions focused on youth participation in decision-making processes. These events addressed youth involvement in conflict prevention, the promotion of gender equality, and sustainable development.
On 14 April, Portugal hosted the discussion Youth Efforts in International Peace and Security, focusing on youth participation in conflict prevention and on how States can support these efforts.
During the ECOSOC Youth Forum on 15 and 16 April, Portugal was represented by the Secretary of State for Equality, who presented programmes promoting sexual rights for young women and preventing domestic violence among youth. Portugal’s Youth Delegate also stressed the need for mechanisms enabling youth participation in decision-making and referred to steps taken to address socio-economic disparities.
