Portugal Reinforces Commitment to Safe and Regular Migration at the UN
At the General Debate of the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF), Portugal presented its position in support of safe, orderly and regular migration, based on respect for human dignity and a strong commitment to international cooperation.
Portugal highlighted the importance of translating international commitments into concrete action. In this context, Portugal announced a pledge of USD 600,000 to the Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund (Migration MPTF), contributing to the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration through collaborative and results-oriented initiatives.
This intervention reflects Portugal’s continued engagement in multilateral efforts to address global challenges and its support for cooperation-based approaches within the United Nations system. It is consistent with Portugal’s broader foreign policy priorities and with its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
