Portugal Hosts Retreat to Strengthen UNEA-7 Ambitions

Between 16th and 20th of June, Portugal hosted a seminar for Permanent Representatives to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) under the theme “Empowering Nairobi: Building Bridges for an Ambitious UNEA-7.”

The event featured two in-depth sessions on the working processes of the Committee of Permanent Representatives and explored strategies to ensure a coherent and ambitious outcome for the upcoming United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) in December.

Portugal expressed satisfaction with the positive results of the retreat, emphasizing the expectation that these discussions will translate into concrete environmental progress during the Assembly.

By fostering dialogue and collaboration, this initiative reinforces Portugal’s commitment to advancing global environmental governance and supporting ambitious multilateral action.
