The Role of Multilateralism in Ocean Conservation: The Geneva Perspective

The Permanent Mission of Portugal in Geneva hosted today a highly participated reflection on “The Role of Multilateralism in Ocean Conservation: the Geneva perspective”. The discussions covered, among other issues, the potential synergies between 3 organizations based here: WTO, WIPO and UNCTAD.

The event also benefited from the presence and participation of the Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Affairs, Mr. José Manuel Fernandes, as keynote speaker, as well as from the insightful contributions of the Permanent Representatives of Barbados, France, Vanuatu and the Maldives, which co-sponsored the event. Oceano Azul Foundation, represented by its Deputy Director for Ocean International Advocacy, Mr. Sérgio Carvalho, enrichened the debate with its integrated global vision of ocean governance.

We thank the contribution of all participants to the strengthening of the cohesion and coordination of the Geneva Hub around a common objective, based on multilateral cooperation and the building of synergies for the preservation of our Ocean.
