Portugal underscored that social protection is not merely a policy priority, but a constitutional commitment, firmly embedded in the nation’s legal and institutional framework. This foundation shapes Portugal’s longstanding approach to promoting equality, reducing vulnerabilities, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
At the event, Portugal highlighted its continued efforts to strengthen social protection mechanisms and foster inclusive development, emphasizing that sustainable progress requires robust systems capable of addressing economic, social, and demographic challenges. The side event provided an opportunity for Member States and partners to exchange experiences on translating the aspirations of the Doha Political Declaration into concrete action.
