Portugal marks 25 Years of UNSCR 1325 at UN Security Council Debate
On 6 October 2025, Portugal participated in the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), marking the 25th anniversary of Resolution 1325.
In its statement, Portugal reaffirmed its strong commitment to the WPS agenda through the preparation of its 4th National Action Plan, which integrates gender perspectives into foreign policy, defence policy and peacekeeping. Portugal also underlined that, as a candidate for the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, it will work to turn WPS promises into reality, ensuring that women’s voices and rights remain central to peace and security efforts.
