International Translation Day
International Translation Day honours translators, interpreters and other language professionals whose work helps connect people, cultures and nations. By facilitating communication across languages, they contribute to dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding among societies.
This day also highlights the value of multilingualism, a core principle of the United Nations and an essential tool for promoting inclusion, cultural diversity and effective international cooperation.
For the Portuguese-speaking community, the observance is an opportunity to celebrate the global reach of the Portuguese language and its role in bringing together people across different continents and cultures. Spoken worldwide, Portuguese is an important language of dialogue, mobility and international engagement.
On this occasion, we recognize the contribution of translators and interpreters, and reaffirm the importance of linguistic diversity as a bridge between peoples and a foundation for greater understanding among nations.
