Portugal Hosts a UN Workshop on Mediation and Good Offices
On 8 October 2025, in New York, Portugal co-hosted, together with Qatar, Finland, and the UN University Centre for Policy Research (UNUCPR), a workshop on the General Assembly’s role in good offices and mediation.
The event focused on strengthening the General Assembly’s contribution to sustaining peace and promoting inclusive, preventive diplomacy within the UN system. Portugal reaffirmed the Assembly’s vital role in dialogue and mediation as tools for conflict prevention and peaceful resolution.
